Supreme Court of Canada dismisses appeal over delayed murder trial
Sivaloganathan Thanabalasingham, a refugee from Sri Lanka and a permanent resident, was charged in 2012 with the second-degree murder of his wife. The charges were stayed in the case because of excessive court delays and Thanabalasingham was deported in 2017. The Quebec Crown was seeking a new trial in the murder case. The appeal was dismissed by The Supreme Court of Canada.
